Dario was a fisherman of the Garifuna people, whose life was tied to the rhythm of the Caribbean Sea. He was a man of skilled hands, knowing how to mend a net and read the waves, and of a musical soul, knowing how to call forth the sacred paranda rhythms from his segunda drum. Yet, for all his skill, the sea had been stingy.
